Sound Research/Planning

Sound Research/Planning
Our sound is going to utilise diagetic sound with no musical score. In addition to non-diegetic sound I am going to add a voice over spanning the entire opening, the voice over will be the main source of background information and traits for the main character has he will do little to no speaking. The voice over will be delivered in the form of a letter. The letter with either be from the past, written by the main character and addressed to his mother or in the present, a letter to one of his children. The first letter idea would be highlighting events of the war through the eyes of the main character, it will reveal things about the character which would set up the plot for the rest of the film (Him being a Nazi officer and dealing with the psychological effects of his actions). The second letter idea is him talking to his child, this letter wouldn't directly mention his involvement in the war, instead it would be him speaking about the trouble he faces now. The diagetic sound I will use in my film opening will be mainly domestic sounds you would hear in someones home, the combination of these diagetic sounds and the lack of musical score tells the audience that the character lives a regular life, with nothing out of the ordinary appearing within it.
